Security is a fast growing need for critical parts of our society. There are a lot of organizations and networks who have been doing great work to build up protection against for example organized crime and terrorism.
They have assessed the risks and continue to do so. They have realized protective rules for instance in aviation and maritime or border control systems. They have trained their staff to deal with all the protocols for possible incidents and they have success, using new technology solutions that industry provides.
Looking at the process of innovation however we see the following struggle.
While in traditional defensive systems industry and army-organisations work collaboratively and constantly on innovation pushed and financed by central government, we see that the protection of people, economies and infrastructure can not be handled in a similar way.
Civil security authorities do not have a history of constant and accelerated innovation, do not collaborate intensively on strategic levels, are not used to build and carry out processes over the borders of their own scope, while criminal organisations and terrorist are very innovative.
ISETI wants to add value by accelerating the realization and balanced implementation of promising concepts in which organisations innovate their technology, break barriers that block efficient and effective collaboration and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their processes.
